San Francisco Claims US Record On Waste Diversion

| | Mayor Gavin Newsom is claiming the city has set national records in keeping waste from being sent to a landfill. The mayor said on Friday that San Francisco hit what's called a landfill diversion rate of 77 percent for 2008, the last year records were available. Officials say it was the highest such rate for a city in the nation.
